I’m not one of those lucky people that seem to escape cold and flu season without getting sick. I’m the opposite and get sick several times during the cold season and my daughter is the same. With a new baby on the way, I’m prepping our household with everything I can to help keep us as healthy as possible. I know that I won’t be able to avoid getting sick. Having a child in daycare pretty much guarantees it, but I’m going to try to prevent it as much as I can!

I am all for natural remedies and tools that can make my life easier and help my child get through the illness quickly. All of these products are ones that I’ve used that can help kids feel better or at least decrease the symptoms to get them through the duration of the cold or flu.

My husband frequently gets sinus infections and he keeps them away by using a sinus rinse system which he got me started on and it truly helps! With kids and especially babies, it’s not a viable option as it’s too hard to control how it works on them and also to get them to sit still! But I recently tried out the Nosiboo Nasal Aspirator which is the perfect solution to unclog their little noses so that they can breathe better.

It’s a small machine that removes nasal mucus fast and effectively. Best of all, it’s easy to use and easy to clean! You can buy it here (it’s on Amazon Prime!) and I highly recommend that you get it before cold season starts so that you are ready when your child starts getting the sniffles. It’s something that you can use with multiple kids and even adults can use it!

I really like that you can control the suction power so it can be as gentle as you need it to be but also if you have an older child with some stubborn mucus, it can help get with that too. The big advantage of this machine over the ones that you just use with your mouth (which I also use) is that it’s way more effective at getting out all the snot and mucus. It works faster and it really helps them breathe a lot better.

I hadn’t heard of Elderberry until last winter when my daughter had been going through what was probably her 3rd cold of the season and I was desperate to keep her healthy going forward. I was at the drugstore trying to find medicine. Other than the occasional kid’s Tylenol, I only use natural remedies for her, so I saw a bottle of elderberry that said it would help boost the immune system. It got me curious, so I then sat on my phone googling everything I could about it.
I ended up getting the Elderberry syrup to help her get through that cold and then I found these Elderberry gummies that I could give to her along with her daily multivitamin.
I like these ones that are made with all natural ingredients that have the elderberry extract along with vitamins A, C, D, E, and zinc to help boost your child’s immune system. After using it for the rest of the cold and flu season last year, I do think it helped her from getting more sick throughout the season so I’m definitely using it again this year along with taking an Elderberry supplement for myself.
I don’t like giving my daughter medicine for a cough but seeing her suffer through her cough was so hard on both of us. Honey was a lifesaver. Not only did she love taking it, it truly helped soothe her throat and control her cough. Please note: don’t give honey to kids under 1
Always check with your doctor before giving your child any kind of medicine or remedy to help with their illness. In my experience, I am happy with using something as natural as honey to give her a little bit of relief when her cough just won’t go away.
I also like to mix the honey in warm water to help her drink more water when she’s sick and I got these spoons to help with both mixing into water but also just to give her the honey with and she loves it. Kids are all about having things their size and these little spoons are perfect for their hands and she loves when I pull out the “honey spoons”.
Everyone who’s been sick knows how awful it is to sleep with a runny nose or when you get the nasal drip into your throat. Kids definitely don’t know how to deal with that. Elevating their mattress with a small wedge really helps the sinuses drain and lets them sleep. I found this mattress wedge that I’m going to try out but you can easily use a rolled up towel or yoga mat under their mattress to give your kids a little bit of elevation to help them out.
Whatever you use, just make sure that you elevate their mattress and not just their pillow. Elevating a pillow can be a lot more uncomfortable and they will most likely just slide off.
One last tool, I had to mention! My doctor recommended a forehead thermometer for taking her temperature and this one is great for everyone in the family. It’s easy to read (I love that it gives you a red light to indicate that there indeed is a fever) and it records the last temperatures taken. It can record up to 32 readings! You always get so worried with kids when they have a fever so it just makes life a lot easier to have a thermometer you can rely on. With over 500 reviews and a 4.5 star rating, I’m pretty sure other people feel the same as me!
Having a sick child is no fun for anyone. It usually starts out where my daughter gets sick and then I catch her cold at the tail end of her cold and my husband who is prone to sinus infections, always ends up sick! It just creates this ongoing cycle of one of us always being sick which is rough! Hopefully some of these products/tools help you out as much as they’ve helped out our family. And hoping that you all get through cold and flu season the best and healthiest that you can!

It's been a hell of a week, to say the least, so indulge in a glorious treat to kick off your weekend: a five-minute video of the snack that is Noah Centineo recreating his Netflix hit rom-com To All The Boys I've Loved Before. But not with his co-star Lana Condor. This time, James Corden (!) steps in as a love-struck Lara Jean and the end result will honestly leave you in tears.
Advertisement - Continue Reading Below
In a pre-taped skit from Thursday night's The Late Late Show with James Corden, Centineo shows up at Corden's dressing room after receiving a sweet letter from the late-night show host (sound familiar?) asking him to be a guest on the show. Of course, Centineo agrees and the duo set off to reenact a few highlights from the movie, including the classic Peter Kavinsky hand-in-back-pocket scene, which gets cut short after Centineo eats a stale Starburst he finds in Corden's pocket.
The romance is only short-lived, though, because Centineo finds out Corden has been scouting other potential guests for his show, including Tom Cruise, Harry Styles, and "every Chris in Hollywood." Watch the whole thing below:

California-based artist Steven Harrington channels his subconscious imagination (filled with poppy colors and wild characters) in the collected work for his latest exhibition in Los Angeles, “Magic Hour.” Large canvases, spanning 16 feet, join as a single mural and mingle with a series of five-by-five-foot paintings.
“Magic Hour,” and some of its themes, coincides with the launch of Harrington's latest Nike collaboration, a capsule of apparel and footwear in celebration of Earth Day that highlights Nike's sustainable Flyleather material innovation.
"Sustainability can be a daunting conversation. Often we find ourselves trying to walk around it," says Harrington. "My work, given that it has an almost-cartoon world, has the ability to pull people into a broad range of topics. I hope that it helps people see that every little bit counts and each step leads to a bigger solution."
An opening reception takes place at the exhibit on April 13, hosted by Harrington, from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. PT. Visitors can purchase a limited quantity of shoes, tees and hats.
WHEN: April 13 - 21
WHERE: 670 S. Anderson Street, Los Angeles, CA 90023

Lumene Hydration Recovery Aerating Gel Mask, $14.99, is a dreamy gel mask that you can apply for a short while or sleep in overnight. I tend to go with the latter application (when it comes to beauty, my motto is "more is more"). I like to apply a medium-thin layer over my face, neck and chest (because that skin needs love, too). You only have to wait a matter of minutes for the fresh-scented mask to soak right into your skin, sans tacky, pillow-adhering residue.
Hailing from Finland, Lumene's bouncy mask contains arctic spring water, birch sap and a slew of other soothing and hydrating ingredients from the wild Nordic. The mask also contains star plumping agent sodium hyaluronate, which can hold 1000 times its weight in water. When you awaken from your beauty sleep, you'll notice your skin has transformed from inflamed, dull or angry to fresh, plump and dewy. It calms breakouts and sunburns and leaves your complexion completely refreshed. If your skin could use some instant brightening, soothing and some overall TLC, I highly recommend you give this mask a go. Your skin will thank you. It's been less than a week since Bella Thorne and Tana Mongeau confirmed that they had quietly broken up after more than a year of dating, and Bella isn't done talking about it.
On Monday, Bella defended her ex and their relationship, commenting in a tweet that Tana wouldn't turn their relationship or breakup into the subject of a video for her YouTube channel. In response to Bella's initial tweet from February 26 confirming her split from Tana, one commenter replied, "Damn I’ll be waiting for the explanation vid from tana in about 6 months."
On March 4, Bella replied, retweeting the comment and responding, "No no we aren’t doing that. Our relationship deserves more respect," adding two heart emojis at the end. Bella's comment seems to imply that she and Tana are united in not going into too much detail about the hows and whys of their split, a feeling backed up somewhat by the fact that Tana retweeted Bella's response nixing the idea of an explainer video.
True to Bella's statement, she and Tana haven't spoken at length about their breakup since they confirmed it on their respective Twitter accounts. The weekend after news of the split, Tana stayed busy in Orlando, Florida, conducting a meet-and-greet with fans rather than creating new videos for her channel. Bella has laid low on social media, only posting photos from her time at the City Gala Oscars Summit on February 24.
Although Bella and Tana have broken up, they continue to date their male partners, musician Mod Sun and viral Instagram star Brad Sousa, respectively. Bella and Mod began dating shortly after she and Tana got together, and Tana and Brad began dating in December.

Barefoot Blonde Book Club : The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
I mentioned that this month I was reading The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas and I flew through it so fast, I loved it! I originally found out about it because on my flight there were two girls about my age reading it and they read it non-stop almost the entire flight. Half way into the flight I was like ok I have to know what this book is about! I googled it and started reading reviews and bought it.
It is about a 16-year-old girl named Starr who witnesses a police shooting her unarmed friend when they are pulled over. She takes you through what it is like from her point of view and it really helped me understand the Black Lives Matter movement even more and really realize the importance of it. Not that I didn’t before, but this book gives you such a great perspective that it just takes it a step further because you really connect with Starr.
I think it is so great for anyone to read especially if like me you grew up somewhat sheltered. It really helps to see a different perspective on this very important problem we are having with police brutality in today’s society. The Hate U Give also comes out in movie theaters in October! So hurry and read it so you can go see it too. I think it is such a good read for anyone! You can find the book here.
The next book I am starting is Girl, Wash Your Face – this was the most recommended book by you guys on insta!!! So I am giving it a go.

In this op-ed, Teen Vogue Weekend Editor De Elizabeth explains how the news surrounding Jordyn Woods demonstrates a double standard when it comes to cheating.
It’s been a little over a week since news broke that Jordyn Woods engaged in PDA with Khloé Kardashian’s partner, Tristan Thompson. In the days following the initial TMZ report, Jordyn reportedly moved out of BFF Kylie Jenner’s guest house, and the model has, according to sources, been “excommunicated” from any future Kardashian-Jenner business dealings. And as the drama unfolded on our social media feeds in real time, many fans were quick to turn on Jordyn, while media outlets ran stories about the 21-year-old’s other alleged relationships.
In a matter of days, Jordyn went from beloved reality star to being publicly dragged, slut-shamed, and “cancelled.” It’s easy to jump to conclusions, but considering that we don’t actually know what happened, it behooves us to contemplate what Jordyn might be going through, and the ways in which we blame women when it comes to cheating as opposed to the men that are in the relationships.
On Friday, March 1, Jordyn spoke with Jada Pinkett Smith on Red Table Talk to tell her side of the story. The model explained to Jada that she went to an after-party at Tristan’s house with a group of people on a Sunday evening, noting that the location felt like “a safe environment” because she knew the host, as opposed to “a random stranger.” Jordyn recounted the events of the night, denying rumors that she gave Tristan a lap-dance, but noting that — at one point — she was sitting on the arm of a chair, with her legs draping across his. “I could see why people would say we were getting cozy,” she said, adding: “That’s where I take responsibility...I can’t be doing that.”
Throughout the interview, Jordyn was candid about what happened between her and Tristan. She told Jada that when she left his house the following morning (along with others), he kissed her. “It was a kiss on the lips, no tongue, no making out, no nothing,” she said, adding that she didn’t know how to feel in the moment. According to Jordyn, she initially kept these details from Khloé out of a desire to protect her friend. “I was trying to protect Khloé’s heart,” Jordyn said. “She doesn’t deserve this either; people have dehumanized her in this situation where they can’t feel for her…its not fair that she has to deal with this.”
It’s both interesting and important to note that a large amount of the backlash has been directed at Jordyn, and not Tristan. Most media headlines have been about Jordyn’s supposed crumbling relationships with the Kardashian family, particularly focusing on the reported end of her friendship with Kylie. In the immediate aftermath of the model’s Red Table Talk interview, Khloé accused Jordyn of lying, tweeting: “If you’re going to try and save yourself by going public, INSTEAD OF CALLING ME PRIVATELY TO APOLOGIZE FIRST, at least be HONEST about your story.” And while she noted in another tweet that “Tristan is equally to blame,” the inequity of the public’s outrage is glaring. It’s almost easy to forget that Tristan was even involved — but it takes two to engage in PDA, so why are some people only concerned with the woman in this equation? Even Jordyn has placed a disproportionate amount of blame on herself; telling Jada that she “allowed myself to be put in that position” when discussing a kiss that she says she did not initiate.
